There will be two new wild-card playoff games in 2012. We now know where we can watch those games on TV.

MLB announced on Tuesday that TBS, a network that has telecast many division series games over the last five seasons, will be the network televising the two wild-card play-in games in 2012. From Richard Sandomir:

Five yrs after acquiring LDS rights and one LCS each year, TBS addd two new wild card games in deal to be announced at 12:30

More information on new postseason telecasts was issued in an MLB press release:

The new Postseason format will feature the two Wild Card teams in the American League and National League playing in a single-elimination game with each winner advancing to compete with the three division champions from its League in the Division Series. MLB also announced that two Division Series games in each of the 2012 and 2013 Postseasons will shift from TBS to MLB Network.

This will be the first time postseason games will be on MLB Network, whichk has been widely praised for its overall coverage and does a good job on its weekly production of regular season games. The exact games to be shifted to MLB Network will be announced later.
