Adam Lind Placed On Outright Waivers, According To Report

After being demoted to Triple-A on May 17, Adam Lind has been placed on outright waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays, according to CBS Sports. The Blue Jays didn't announce the move, but according to CBS Sports reporter Danny Knobler, two MLB sources spotted Lind on the waiver wire on Sunday. Just three seasons ago, Lind hit .305 with 35 home runs and 114 RBI as a 25-year-old, but, before his demotion, he was hitting just .186 during 2012.

From Knobler:

Outright waivers are irrevocable, so if any team puts in a claim on Lind, the Blue Jays would lose him. But Lind's contract, which pays him $5 million this year and next year and includes three club options that guarantee him another $3.5 million, makes a claim fairly unlikely.

If Lind clears waivers, he will be removed from the Blue Jays' 40-man roster.
