The A's acquired Brandon Inge at the end of April. He was hitting well until he got hurt; now he's back.
Brandon Inge is a tale of two seasons. He was 2-for-20 with no walks for the Detroit Tigers when they released him on April 26. Four days later he signed with the Oakland Athletics. His batting average for them wasn't great -- just .227 -- but in 44 at-bats he had two doubles, four home runs and 17 RBI, for an .845 OPS.
Unfortunately for the A's, Inge had some groin soreness and was placed on the disabled list. Fortunately for the A's, that stint lasted the minimum 15 days:
The #Athletics have reinstated infielder Brandon Inge from the disabled list and optioned catcher Anthony Recker to Triple-A Sacramento.

Inge had stabilized a position -- third base -- where the A's had been racked by injuries. With Inge out, Josh Donaldson has been starting at third base and hitting miserably -- .180 with a .176 OBP (yes, a lower OBP than BA; no walks and one sac fly will do that). It isn't necessarily cause-and-effect, but the A's have gone 4-10 since Inge went down. They'll surely be glad to have him back in the lineup.
