Juan Cruz will be away from the Pirates for personal reasons; to replace him temporarily, they've put him on the restricted list.
Juan Cruz has been one of the better setup men in the National League in 2012, posting a 1.45 ERA for the Pirates; he even put up three saves while regular closer Joel Hanrahan was away from the team on the bereavement list. Now, Cruz himself will be spending some time away from the Pirates:
LHP Juan Cruz has been placed on Restricted List and LHP Doug Slaten has been selected from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Before you mention that Cruz isn't lefthanded, the Pirates corrected themselves in a subsequent tweet:
Make that RHP Juan Cruz...

And why did this happen?
El lanzador Juan Carlos Cruz de los Piratas fue colocado en la lista restringida para atender asuntos de negocios personales...

Translation: to attend to some personal business. Players on the restricted list don't count against 25-man or 40-man roster limits.
