Nolan Reimold was off to the best start of his career, hitting .313 with a .627 slugging percentage in his first 67 at-bats, but he was shut down with tingling in his fingers this week. That's a symptom that can lead to some freaky things, but after some tests, it was determined that he had a bulging disc in his neck.
And now he's on the shelf. From MASN:
Nolan Reimold isn't listed among the reserves for tonight's game, so he's headed to the disabled list.
Reimold wasn't initially supposed to go on the DL, so the long-term prognosis probably isn't that bleak. In his stead, the Orioles are planning to play Wilson Betemit in left, which would likely move Mark Reynolds out of the DH spot and back at third, where he will wreak his usual brand of havoc. Nick Johnson and Ronny Paulino have both spent time at DH this year, so they could be in the mix if Reynolds plays a lot in the field.
