New York Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada has left his team's game Sunday afternoon game after apparently straining his right quadriceps. The injury occurred when he tripped running full-bore trying to beat out a throw on a bunt attempt in the fourth inning. According to MLB.com, he laid on the ground motionless for several moments before eventually walking off the field under his own power.

Tejada, the Mets' full-time replacement for Jose Reyes after serving as his backup last season, was batting .305 with a .362 on-base percentage in 27 games before getting hurt. He was replaced in the lineup by Justin Turner. Tejada is an above-average fielder not much known for his hitting. He has no home runs this year with just eight RBI and one stolen base.
