The Marlins have brought their starting first baseman back from a stint in Triple-A.
Gaby Sanchez had been a perfectly serviceable first baseman for the Marlins for the last two seasons, posting OPS+ figures of 108 in 2010 and 119 in 2011, with 19 home runs each season.
But he got off to an awful start in 2012, hitting just .197/.244/.295 in 122 at-bats, so it was off to Triple-A New Orleans for Sanchez to get his batting eye back. In 19 games there, Sanchez hit .310/.494/.483 with three home runs; that was apparently enough for the Marlins:

The Marlins designated infielder Donnie Murphy for assignment following the team's 13-4 loss to the Rays on Saturday night.
Murphy went 0-for-1 after entering the game as a pinch-runner for Hanley Ramirez in the sixth inning. Murphy hit .133 (6-for-45) in 25 games this season, including eight starts at second base.
