Alexi Ogando is on the disabled list with a right-groin injury.

Alexi Ogando started for the Texas Rangers on Sunday, and he had more hits than he allowed. When a starting pitcher gets more hits than they allow, that's usually a good thing, especially when the starting pitcher doesn't allow a hit at all. The problem: On that hit -- a bunt single that split the defense -- Ogando strained his right groin.

The Rangers were trying to see if some day-to-day rest and monitoring would solve the problem, but alas:

Michael Kirkman was called up to replace Ogando on the active roster.

Ogando was a middle reliever for the Rangers before getting called upon to make a few starts due to injuries to Derek Holland and Neftali Feliz, and he has a 2.08 ERA and 35/7 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 34 innings this year. The Rangers will have to make do with their 38 other power arms in the bullpen for now.
