In the age of Twitter, news travels very quickly.
Sometimes, it travels so fast that it comes from a source who isn't even a reporter. A baseball player happened to run into another baseball player, spoke to him, and found out some information that isn't yet official:
Just seen Livan Hernandez n the airport in Chicago. He's on his way 2 Milwaukee 2 help their starting rotation.Talked briefly sounded excited
— Bill Hall (@BillHall_III) June 22, 2012
Both Hall and Hernandez have been around the major leagues for a long time. Hall has played for the Brewers, Mariners, Red Sox, Astros and Orioles. Hernandez has played for the Marlins, Expos, Nationals, Diamondbacks, Rockies, Twins, Mets and Braves. As you can see, despite these two wearing the uniforms of 13 different major-league teams, they were never teammates.
And a random encounter between the two in an airport in Chicago (I'd assume O'Hare, but the tweet doesn't say) gives us information that no reporter nor team has yet reported.
2012. The Twitter Age. Embrace it.
