Livan Hernandez Joins Milwaukee Brewers

Stay connected for news and updates

Livan Hernandez is 37 years old, and his repertoire is best compared to the cream in the middle of an Oreo, but when he was recently dropped by the Braves, one figured it wouldn't take long for him to find another job. Another job has been found, as now Hernandez is officially joining the Brewers.

The news was first reported by ... Bill Hall, who sighted Hernandez in an airport. According to Hall, Hernandez said he's going to help the Brewers' rotation, but Ken Rosenthal doesn't hear it that way. I hope Hernandez doesn't have his heart set on starting because if he does then he's in for a nasty surprise.

The Brewers' rotation has been something of a question mark, and Shaun Marcum recently came down with elbow discomfort. So Hernandez could end up in the rotation. At the start, though, it doesn't look like it'll be that way. Wherever he pitches, Hernandez will throw many of his pitches to Jonathan Lucroy. A guy who gets one of the wider strike zones in baseball will pitch to a catcher who gets one of the wider strike zones in baseball. This could actually work out, and at the very least it'll be good for science.
