Juan Rivera has spent the last four weeks on the disabled list after rupturing a tendon in his left leg on a slide into third base.
Monday, the Dodgers announced they were activating him. Ken Gurnick:
The Dodgers activated outfielder Juan Rivera from the 15-day disabled list on Monday and optioned Scott Van Slyke to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Rivera has been sidelined for a month with a ruptured hamstring tendon and last week played in three Minor League rehab games.
Rivera was hitting .247 with two home runs when he was sidelined; he went 3-for-12 with two home runs in his rehab stint.
Speaking of home runs, Van Slyke hit a memorable pinch-hit homer for his first major-league round-tripper with his father, former major-league outfielder Andy Van Slyke, in attendance in a nationally-televised Sunday night game at Dodger Stadium.
It was a nice moment, but now Scott must ply his trade at Albuquerque, at least for a time.
