Jarrod Parker No-Hitter: Intact Through 7 Innings

Stay connected for news and updates

The Texas Rangers lead the world in scoring. Jarrod Parker doesn't exactly have blow-them-away stuff.

Nevertheless, tonight in Oakland, Parker's pitched seven innings against the Rangers without allowing a single hit.

Blessed with a 10-0 lead, Parker didn't exactly breeze through the seventh inning. Ian Kinsler led off with a drive to deep left-center field, but Yoenis Cespedes tracked it down. Next, Elvis Andrus worked a walk before Parker struck out Josh Hamilton with a change-up (for the second time in the game). And Parker preserved his no-hit bid by retiring Adrian Beltre on a grounder to third baseman Brandon Inge.

If this does eventually become a no-hitter, though, it's likely to become a combined no-hitter. Parker's already thrown 107 pitches. Having never thrown more than 112 in a game, he's unlikely to be given the chance to throw 134 pitches like Johan Santana did in his no-hitter last week.

Did we mention that it's the Texas Rangers? And rookie Jarrod Parker?
