Indians Activate Carlos Santana From Concussion Disabled List

On Friday, May 25, Cleveland Indians catcher Carlos Santana took a foul ball off his mask, complained of dizziness and left the game. As a precaution, the team placed him on the new seven-day concussion disabled list and catcher Luke Carlin was recalled to fill in.

Now he’s returning:

Carlos Santana DHing and hitting fourth for #Indians tonight vs. Tigers. Santana (concussion) just off the DL.

The team appears to continue to be cautious with Santana, not putting him behind the plate for his first game back. The team is keeping Carlin, probably for that reason:

Reporter Paul Hoynes got the scoop on Santana earlier Tuesday morning, by happenstance:

Santana was hitting .245/.360/.387 with just five home runs in 155 at-bats after a 27-homer season in 2011. Indians fans are hoping he’ll change his evil ways.
