It's been a rough season for the Philadelphia Philles for a few reasons. Injuries are the biggest reasons, of course. But even before the season started, they knew they were going to be dealing with an injury to Ryan Howard. So they signed Jim Thome, and they even played him at first a little. Then he got hurt. So goes the Phillies in 2012 thus far.
But Thome's back. That can be a complete sentence, or it can be just a clause that's missing the rest of the sentence. Here, it's just a sentence. He's back from his back.
Jim Thome was activated from 15-day DL. Infielder Pete Orr was optioned to AAA Lehigh Valley.

Thome only had 18 at-bats before the back injury, and he had only two hits. He's also 41, so it's probably not a great idea to assume he'll come riding a white horse and save the Phillies' offense. But he can't hurt it, brothers and sisters. He can't hurt it.
