The Phillies have had to rely on injury replacements quite a bit this year. Now, one of those replacements is himself injured.

The Philadelphia Phillies have had a rough time with infielders this season. With Chase Utley still out and no return date set, 22-year-old rookie Freddy Galvis has manned second base. He's been decent defensively (1.1 dWAR), but his hitting (.226/.254/.363) has been... not good.

And now, Galvis is injured:

Rookie second baseman Freddy Galvis left the game during his at-bat in the fifth inning after suffering what the Phillies called lower back pain, which occurred on a swing.

His replacement will be someone who filled in quite a bit for the Phillies in 2011:

Offense? Not so much; Martinez hit just .196/.258/.282 in 209 at-bats for the Phillies in 2011, and has been on the shelf much of this season, with just 20 minor-league plate appearances.

But now the Phillies need him. You can bet Ruben Amaro Jr. is scanning the waiver wire this morning.
