The Mets righthander is suffering from some kind of circulation problem, according to one report.
Mets righthander Dillon Gee, who started and threw eight innings with just one run allowed against the Cubs on Saturday, is in the hospital Tuesday -- and doctors apparently aren't quite sure what's going on with him.
That's scary. ESPN New York's Adam Rubin has details:
Manager Terry Collins, reached in Kansas City, said Gee experienced numbness in his fingers and was due to undergo an angiogram.
"They aren't sure what it is yet," Collins said.
A teammate said the issue was believed to be blood-related in Gee's shoulder. Another member of the organization said Gee was admitted Monday and underwent an MRI.
The Mets have Gee penciled in to start their first game after the All-Star break, against the Braves at Turner Field in Atlanta, but based on this it doesn't sound promising for him to make that start. As always, we await further developments.
