Adrian Gonzalez missed another game Saturday with a back injury he suffered while bending over to greet a child.
Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez missed his second straight game due to a back injury Saturday and is likely to miss a third straight game Sunday. Gonzalez injured his back Friday while bending over to say hello to a kid at a shopping mall, according to a report from Pete Abraham.
#RedSox 1B Adrian Gonzalez hurt his back bending over to say hi to a kid in a stroller on Friday. "Hopefully I wake up tomorrow and I feel fine," he said. "I woke up on Friday and felt 100 percent. I went to the mall and ran into a family and that's what happened. I was perfect fine before that. It's crazy."
Gonzalez played in the Red Sox's first 86 games before sitting out Friday. He has been slumping recently and his current .745 OPS is the lowest since he broke into the Major Leagues as a full-time player.
