The Toronto Blue Jays have been beset by injuries this season, but up to now, they’ve been limited to the pitching staff.
Unfortunately for the Jays, not only has a position player now hit the DL, but it’s their best position player, Jose Bautista, after he hurt his wrist swinging the bat Monday at Yankee Stadium. He’ll be out at least 15 days:
.@BlueJays have placed @JoeyBats19 on the 15-day DL with left wrist inflammation and have selected the contract of outfielder Anthony Gose

Anthony Gose was the second-round pick of the Phillies in 2008; he was sent to the Astros as part of the Roy Oswalt deal on July 29, 2010, and that same day to the Blue Jays for Brett Wallace. Since then he’s become a top prospect, hitting .292/.375/.432 with 29 stolen bases for Triple-A Las Vegas this year, and recently appearing in the All-Star Futures Game, where he made an outstanding flat-out diving catch on a ball hit by Cardinals prospect Oscar Taveras.
To make room for Gose on the 40-man roster, the Blue Jays transferred Brandon Morrow to the 60-day DL.
Gose will be a fine addition to the Blue Jays’ lineup, but it will be tough to replace the bat of Joey Bats.
