Mets Activate Jason Bay From Concussion Disabled List

Stay connected for news and updates

It’s become easier to keep track of the games Jason Bay has missed this season than the games he’s actually played. He spent some time on the 15-day DL with a broken rib; when he came back from that, he played seven games before crashing into a wall and giving himself a concussion.

Baseball now has a seven-day concussion DL; it’s designed to take players with concussions out of action until they can be certified to play, without necessarily keeping them out for a full 15 days.

Bay, though, needed more than a month. He’s now been reactivated by the Mets:

Bay went 5-for-25 in eight games on a rehab assignment to High-A St. Lucie and Triple-A Buffalo. Nevertheless, he’ll be back, and Omar Quintanilla, who hit .257/.350/.371 in 80 plate appearances for the Mets, is gone.
