The Astros have traded Brett Myers and cash to the White Sox for a pair of pitching prospects and a player to be named later.
The Chicago White Sox have traded for Houston Astros closer Brett Myers, as first reported by Ken Rosenthal and later by multiple outlets in a deal to shore up their bullpen to try to hold off the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central. Myers has long been considered a movable asset considering the Astros are out of the playoff picture and every contending team looks to shore up its bullpen for the pennant race.

Ken Rosenthal also reported that Myers has a clause in his contract that awards his $500,000 if he's traded, and Jon Heyman reported that the Sox will only be responsible for $1 million of Myers' 2012 deal. Addison Reed is the current White Sox closer, but he has been so shaky that manager Robin Ventura had to issue a vote of confidence earlier Saturday.
