The Detroit Tigers are on a roll and now are in sole possession of first place in the AL Central. They have taken two straight from the White Sox to leapfrog them in the standings.
The Detroit Tigers stayed hot at precisely the right time and have now moved into sole possession of first place in the American League Central. The Chicago White Sox came to Detroit over the weekend and the Tigers did not waste their opportunity. On Saturday, the Tigers cruised to a 7-1 victory and took over the top spot in the division.
The Tigers have taken the first two games of their three-game set against Chicago and now hold a half-game lead. They'll attempt to extend that lead in the series finale on Sunday.
These teams look like they're on two very different trajectories at the moment. The Tigers are 8-2 over their last 10 games and have won four in a row, while the White Sox are just 3-7 over their last 10 and have dropped four straight.
Chicago can reclaim first place with a win on Sunday, but the Tigers are firing on all cylinders at the moment.
