Barry Larkin and Ron Santo will enter the Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday.
The 2012 Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Sunday, ushering two great infielders into Cooperstown.
Barry Larkin, voted in on his third year on the Hall of Fame ballot, was the only player selected by Hall of Fame voters to join the 2012 class. He played all of his 19 years with the Cincinnati Reds before retiring in 2004, won the 1995 NL MVP for a year in which he hit .319 and stole 51 bases, and earned a World Series ring with the Reds in 1990.
Ron Santo, chosen by the Golden Age Committee as a Hall of Fame inductee in December 2011, never received more than 43 percent of the vote on any of his years on the standard Hall of Fame ballot, but became a favorite of the Veterans Committee in recent years. His 342 home runs and 2,254 hits in 15 seasons — 14 with the Chicago Cubs — helped him finally earn enshrinement.
The 2012 Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be televised on MLB Network starting at 1:30 p.m. Eastern on Sunday afternoon, and is expected to last two hours.
