Derek Jeter became just the second player in MLB history to have at least 150 hits in 17 consecutive seasons.
Derek Jeter has achieved a lot of milestones during his 17-year MLB career, but Saturday he accomplished something only one other player has. Jeter notched his 150th hit of the season during Saturday's game, making him the second player in Major League history to have at least 150 hits in 17 consecutive seasons.
Jeter joined Hank Aaron as the only player to accomplish the feat. The record came in the sixth inning of the Yankees game against the Blue Jays. Just as he has so many times during his career, Jeter wen't the opposite way, with the ball landing in the right field gap and bouncing over the wall for a ground-rule double.
Jeter began his streak during his rookie season in 1996. He's surpassed the 150 hit plateau fairly easily in most seasons with the only close call coming in 2003 when he finished with 156 hits while playing just 119 games.
