Daron Sutton Still Suspended With No Timetable For Return

On June 21, Arizona Diamondbacks announcer Daron Sutton stopped broadcasting play-by-play for the team's television broadcasts. Initially there was no word why, just that it was a disciplinary issue. Eventually it was revealed that Sutton was suspended because he wanted to wear a suit and tie on the broadcast, whereas the Diamondbacks wanted him to wear a polo shirt. Okay.

And according to Diamondbacks' team president Derrick Hall, who spoke with the ABC affiliate in Phoenix, there isn't a set time for Sutton's return:

Daron of course, I hired him, I extended him, he's a very important part of our history and who we are. It's been a culmination of events and unfortunately, I wish I could talk more about it, but when it comes to personnel issues, I don't think it would be fair for him or us if we talked anymore than to say there's no timetable on a return. It's an indefinite suspension.

The consensus seems to be, "C'mon. Something else has to be going on. This isn't about just polo shirts." While that makes the most sense, everything is just a guess right now.

Sutton has been broadcasting for the Diamondbacks since their 2007 season, and he was previously with the Brewers and Braves.
