Iván Nova's been struggling.
Since running his record to 10-3 just before the All-Star break, Nova's won just one game since, with a 7.28 ERA. He's got just two Quality Starts in his last eight outings. All of which has led to questions about his status in the rotation, especially with CC Sabathia set to come off the Disabled List this weekend.
Well, no more questions. Well, not about the rotation, anyway. According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, Nova's going on the Disabled List with shoulder stiffness. According to other sources, Nova "felt a catch" in his shoulder and is going to see someone in a white coat for tests.
Which is just about all we know. With David Phelps pitching well in the rotation, Sabathia coming off the D.L. and Andy Pettitte intent on pitching in September, the Yankees have the luxury of giving Nova whatever time he needs to get healthy. But with his status already shaky, any time off now will endanger his status on the Yankees' postseason roster.
