The Tigers' third baseman had to leave Thursday's game with an apparent injury.

The Detroit Tigers are playing the Toronto Blue Jays in an afternoon tilt at Comerica Park. They are in a tight race for the AL wild-card spots, and also still have a shot at the AL Central title; they stand just two games behind the Chicago White Sox coming into Thursday's action.

That's why this report from ESPN's Steve Berthiaume could put a chill into the heart of any Tigers fan:

CABRERA LEAVES GAME: #Tigers trainer & Jim Leyland out to 3B. Something suddenly wrong with Miguel Cabrera, who may have tweaked a knee.

The injury apparently happened in the second inning, but The play-by-play of that inning doesn't even indicate Cabrera was involved in any play that could have caused an injury:

That's all the information that's available now; we'll await further news on this possible wrench in Detroit's postseason ambitions.

UPDATE... here's what actually happened:

Not as bad, perhaps, but still concerning.
