Joey Votto Beginning Rehab Assignment Tuesday

Stay connected for news and updates

Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto has been out of action since mid-July after having surgery on a torn meniscus in his left knee.

The Reds, despite playing offensive black holes like Miguel Cairo at first base in Votto’s absence, haven’t missed a beat; they’re 27-14 without their All-Star first baseman in the lineup.

They could have him back soon. Hutch Konerman:

Cincinnati Reds all-star first baseman Joey Votto is scheduled to begin a two-day major league injury rehabilitation assignment for the Dayton Dragons on Tuesday, August 28 when the Dragons host the West Michigan Whitecaps at Fifth Third Field. Votto is also scheduled to play for the Dragons on Wednesday, August 29.

CBS Sports’ C. Trent Rosecrans reports that the Reds hope to have Votto back for their series that begins Friday in Houston. They’ll want him at full strength as they approach an almost certain postseason berth.
