The Chicago White Sox added Houston Astros closer Brett Myers to their bullpen before the trade deadline, sending over two pitching prospects and a player to be named later. The player has been named latter, and it's 21-year-old pitching prospect Chris Devenski, a left-hander who was drafted in the 25th round of the 2011 draft.
Devenski's statistical line:
| Year | Age | G | GS | IP | HR | BB | SO | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2011 | 20 | 2.25 | 7 | 0 | 8.0 | 0 | 1 | 9 |
| 2012 | 21 | 4.23 | 19 | 8 | 61.2 | 8 | 19 | 54 |
Devenski was a converted shortstop in college, and Baseball America had this to say about him after the 2011 draft:
Devenski ran his fastball up to 94 mph in the fall, but he's been more 90-92 and straight this spring, and there were outings when he worked in the high 80s. His slider and changeup are serviceable.
The prospects the White Sox previously sent to the Astros were pitchers Blair Walters and Matthew Heidenreich.
