The A's have added three players to their roster for their big series against the Angels.
The Oakland Athletics stand 3½ games behind the Texas Rangers in the American League West, and currently hold the top spot in the A.L. wild-card race; the Los Angeles Angels trail the A's by three games.
That makes this week's four-game set between the Angels and A's in Anaheim, beginning Monday night, one of the key matchups for playoff positioning. And the A's are summoning some reinforcements for their bench for the series:

Jemile Weeks was the A's Opening Day second baseman, but he was sent to Triple-A Sacramento last month after having a poor season. Daric Barton also spent most of the season at Sacramento and hit .255/.411/.425 in 74 games. Jesse Chavez was purchased by the A's from the Toronto Blue Jays on August 24; he posted an 8.44 ERA in nine appearances (two starts) with the Blue Jays.
