The Red Sox second baseman left Wednesday's game early. Check out his reaction when he found out his wife was in labor.
Kelli Pedroia, wife of Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia, had a baby boy Thursday morning, per this tweet from the Boston Globe's Pete Abraham.
That's great, and congratulations to the Pedroia family. But more interesting than that -- and yes, there's something more interesting than hearing about the birth of a baby -- is the reaction on Pedroia's face and how quickly he left the game after manager Bobby Valentine told him what was going on with Kelli Pedroia:
Awesome. And look, the Pedroias even got congratulations from the Red Sox' arch-rival from their official Twitter account:
Dustin Pedroia's wife goes into labor! Good luck, Pedroias from Yankee fans...and thanks for missing a critical 9th inning at-bat! - Willie

The Yankees held on to defeat the Red Sox 5-4. Ivan De Jesus replaced Pedroia, who missed what might have been that key at-bat (it would have been in the eighth inning, not ninth). Pedroia will miss Thursday's game, and possibly Friday's as well, though with expanded rosters the Red Sox likely won't put him on the paternity-leave list.
