When Amy Adams Needed a Body Double

Stay connected for news and updates

Well, sort of. From a piece in the Times about the action scenes in the new Clint Eastwood movie:

Because Amy Adams was in so many scenes, Ms. McDaniel said it was hard to find time to train her for a scene in which her character catches a hard-throwing pitcher. There was one problem: She was scared of the ball.

Ms. McDaniel recalled: "She was like: 'I don’t like objects flying toward my face. I don’t like baseballs. I don’t like basketballs. I don’t like anything.' "

So they used a double, a 15-year-old girl who could catch 80-miles-an-hour heat.
