Remember when there was some (admittedly mild) speculation that when Melky Cabrera's 50-game suspension expires, he might be added to the Giants' postseason roster?
Well, we can probably stop speculating.

It's not seemed like Cabrera's teammates are real interested in having him back, and there are also questions about his effectiveness after being out for a couple of months. Lately, Bruce Bochy has been deploying a combination of Gregor Blanco and Xavier Nady in left field, which hasn't worked well but has worked well enough for the Giants to clinch a postseason berth and the National League West crown.
Without Melky Cabrera, though, left field will be a weak spot for the Giants in October.
