93 years ago today, the Giants and Phillies played a nine-inning game in 51 minutes, at the Polo Grounds in New York. The Giants won 6-1. It's generally recognized as the shortest game in major-league history. (And it was the first game of a doubleheader on the last game of the season.)
In 2012, some innings take that long. (Not to mention the commercial breaks, which are longer in the postseason.)
