Tim Heitman-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
The Angels and Rangers were rained out on Saturday and will play a doubleheader on Sunday.
The Texas Rangers and the Los Angeles Angels waited four hours, but the rain didn't let up and their game was postponed on Saturday. The clubs will play a day-night doubleheader Sunday. It will be the first doubleheader ever at the Ballpark in Arlington.
The Rangers' magic number to clinch the AL West championship remained at 3, as the second-place Oakland Athletics beat the Seattle Mariners today. With one victory Sunday, the Rangers will assure themselves a spot in the playoffs.
The Angels are now 2.5 games behind the A's for the second American League Wild Card spot. The Angels have won 10 of their last 14 games, including a win over the Rangers on Friday evening, but still need help to play in the postseason.
Yu Darvish (16-9) will start the opener tomorrow for Texas and Derek Holland (11-6) will start the nightcap. The Angels will counter with Zack Greinke (6-2) and Ervin Santana (9-12).
