The A's righthander walked off the field under his own power after a scary incident.
There was a scary scene in Wednesday afternoon's game at O.co Coliseum in Oakland between the Athletics and the Los Angeles Angels. A's starter Brandon McCarthy was hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of the Angels' Alberto Callaspo, according to a tweet from MLB.com's Jane Lee.
Other tweets from various reporters on the scene indicated that McCarthy sat up and was talking with the team trainer, and then there was this good news:
McCarthy up and walking off the field on his own. Blackley coming in to pitch.

Obviously, McCarthy will be examined, and possibly put on the seven-day concussion disabled list.
The A's began Wednesday leading the American League wild-card race, tied with the Orioles and Yankees.
