A couple years ago, Larry Granillo (now of Baseball Prospectus) took a look back at a Hall of Fame preview from 1992. It's a good way to see what people thought of the players on today's ballot when they were still active.

Bonus: A spreadsheet of the votes tallied for that article, in which we learn that some writers thought Gary Carter and Dennis Eckersley had "no chance," and at least one writer thought Rickey Henderson's future election was "doubtful."
