Not long after the Dodgers traded Mike Piazza to the Marlins (who immediately traded him to the Mets), they (the Dodgers) signed Kevin Brown for a huge amount of money. During his career, Brown had a ... reputation. From Mike Piazza's new book, Long Shot:
To appease Kevin Brown, they even fixed the showers at Dodgertown. We all understood those showers. When the water pressure dropped, they'd get intensely hot; so the players simply stepped aside for a moment or two. The first time it happened to Brown -- I don't know, maybe it was the second -- he grabbed a bat and beat the shit out of the showerhead. After all those years, the team brought in plumbers to fix the water pressure problem.
I wish I could say I wish I'd been a fly on the wall, but it was the wall of a shower room so I can't say that. Still, if anyone's got a video clip please send it along.
