Tuesday night, Keith Olbermann did a fun segment on "Football Seattle" and "Baseball Seattle" and the Robinson Canó rumors. Here's the whole bit if you've got five-and-a-half minutes ...
... but if not, here's the bit that I found particularly interesting:
This is Robbie Canó, who's been so plugged into the New York lifestyle that twice, the Yankees dumped his best friend on the team because each best friend supposedly kept Canó out on the town every night, until sunrise.
Anybody know who the best friends were? Actually, a quick Googling suggests that Melky Cabrera was one of them. But I'm not finding the other. Anyway, I agree with Olbermann: Canó doesn't want to go anywhere, and he's quite likely just using the Mariners to create some leverage, maybe a bit of urgency, in the Bronx. But if Olbermann knows it and I know it and you know it, don't the Yankees know it.
Prediction: Canó doesn't get what he wants from the Yankees, but he gets more than they want to give him. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was.
