Aroldis Chapman shouldn't throw at anyone's head. Like, even as a goof. He throws too hard to mess around with that stuff, and when he got one close to Nick Swisher's chin this weekend, the Indians were right to be incensed.
That written, it probably isn't the height of announcer decorum to suggest that Swisher should hit a line drive off Chapman's temple in retaliation.
Here's the video. About 1:10 or so is when Indians announcer Tom Hamilton suggests that a shot off the ol' temple is a fair response to the headhunting of Chapman.
Here's a list of things Hamilton could have said that would have been distasteful, but not nearly as distasteful:
- "... the knee of Chapman."
- "... off Chapman's pitching elbow."
- "... right off Champman's dingus."
But you're reading this right now because "temple" sounds so ... final.
The moral of the story: It's probably not the end of the world to hint at a line drive back to the mound in that situation, but the word "temple" is extra creepy.
