FLUSHING, New York -- So I just escaped the National League All-Stars' press availability. All the fellas seem like affable sorts, and most seem terribly young. Babies, almost.*
* not Marco Scutaro
It's not a situation designed to elicit great insights, and between the heat and the crowd, I'm afraid the best thing I got was that Paul Goldschmidt is really impressed by Mat Latos's slider.
Still, it's interesting to see these guys out of their team liveries, and some of them do look like different people. Which got me to noticing that some of them look a lot (or a little) like famous actors.
Adam Wainwright? Bradley Cooper.
Michael Cuddyer? Simon Pegg.
Buster Posey? The young Tony Dow (first season, maybe second).
Matt Carpenter? David Duchovny.
Jason Grilli? Matthew McConaughey.
You don't believe me? I was there. I saw them. You're not going to trust your television or your video-phone over me, are you?
Next up! American League actors!
